Campion Allante LX 925
The Campion Allante 925 is a Canadian-built midcabin cruiser whose distinctive styling offers something a little different in express cruiser design. Specifically, the hull ports are a bit unusual—many designers seek to keep the hull free of distractions (other than graphics) so as not to undermine the boat’s streamlined appearance. The Allante rides on a fully cored deep-V hull whose underbody incorporates a hull pad to provide lift and a notched transom to reduce drag. The result is a surprisingly fast boat whose performance surpasses that of many other family cruisers her size. The Allante’s generous cabin headroom is notable, and the Corian counters, brass and stainless fixtures, and woodgrain laminate cabinetry should prove very durable. In the cockpit, the doublewide helm seat features a flip-up seat bottom to allow the captain to drive while standing. A wet bar, tilt wheel, foredeck sun pad, and transom door are standard. On the downside, the dash leaves little room for extra electronics, and the engine compartment hatch is hinged forward rather than aft, making access difficult. Twin 250hp 5.0-liter I/Os cruise at 22–24 knots and reach 40+ knots wide open.
