Boston Whaler
27 Offshore
1991–98
An unconventional design, the Boston Whaler 27 Offshore is a walkaround fisherman whose combined hardtop/semi-enclosed helm configuration was unique in her day. Like all Whalers, her foam-filled deep-V hull is unsinkable, and her broad, well-flared bow prevents stuffing in big head seas. A dedicated fishing boat, the Offshore came standard with two big in-deck fish boxes, a two-sink bait prep station with cutting boards and tackle drawers, livewell, built-in rod holders and rod racks throughout. The fold-down splashwell door at the transom is notable; when folded in it allows anglers to stand well above the outboards in order to easily walk a fish around the props. The hardtop and windshield provide good weather protection, and an overhead electronics console was also standard. The Offshore’s cuddy, with its V-berth, head, and storage is larger than one might expect in a 27-footer thanks to her generous 10-foot beam. Additional features include a molded pulpit, cockpit bolsters, opening cabin ports, full-height bow rail, and forward seating for three. Twin 225hp outboards cruise at 25–26 knots (40+ top).
