Bimini
29 Sportfisherman
1989–93
Bimini Marine acquired molds to the popular Topaz 29 Sportfisherman in 1989 (when Topaz ended operations) and reintroduced her the same year as the Bimini 29. Hull construction is solid fiberglass and the layout of the Bimini is basically the same as the original Topaz model. A large hatch on the bridge deck provides access to the engines, and visibility from the helm is excellent. The lower level of the cockpit is large enough for a mounted chair, and a large in-deck fish box and belowdeck storage area keep the cockpit free of clutter. Inside, there are berths for three in the cabin along with a compact galley and a roomy standup head with shower. Most were sold with the optional factory tower. Several gas and diesel engines were offered in the Bimini 29 over the years. Volvo 200hp diesels cruise at a fast 26–27 knots with a top speed of around 30 knots. A “Sport” model with an enlarged bridge deck and smaller cabin was also available. Although the last Bimini 29 was built in 1993, MacArthur Boatworks in South Carolina picked up the molds a couple of years later and briefly reintroduced her in 1996 as the MacArthur 29 Sportfish.
