Bayliner Yachts 4085 Avanti Sunbridge
Bayliner built a loyal following among entry-level boaters over the years with their series well-designed family cruisers at super-competitive prices. The 4085 Avanti was a good example of Bayliner’s market prowess—what brokers like to call a lot of boat for the money. Built on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull with a relatively wide beam, her mid-cabin floorplan is arranged with double berths in both staterooms and a convertible U-shaped lounge and full galley in the salon. Note that each stateroom has a privacy door (rather than curtains), and the head is fitted with a separate stall shower. The amidships lounge/stateroom has a small sofa and partial standing headroom at the entrance. On deck, there’s a double-wide seat at the helm followed by a large circular settee aft (with a removable table) and a full wet bar to port. The Avanti’s deep swim platform can store a personal watercraft. Additional features include a gas-assist engine room hatch, side-dumping exhausts and a reverse arch. Standard 310hp V-drive MerCruiser inboards cruise at a modest 15–16 knots (about 25 knots top), and optional 315hp Cummins diesels cruise around 25–26 knots.
