3685 Avanti Sunbridge
1998–99
The 3685 Avanti Sunbridge is a straightforward family express whose principal attraction was her very affordable price tag. Indeed, the Avanti was very a value considering her long list of standard equipment although the fit and finish left something to be desired. A very contemporary late 1990s design with her reverse arch and integral swim platform, the Avanti was constructed on a solid fiberglass hull with a relatively wide beam and moderate transom deadrise. The mid-cabin floorplan is standard in boats of this type with staterooms fore and aft (each with a double berth), a full galley, convertible dinette, and an amidships head with shower. On deck, a U-shaped settee abaft the helm converts into a spacious sun pad. A removable cocktail table stores beneath the sole, and a large gas-assist hatch provides easy access to the engines. Additional features include a foredeck sun pad, double-wide helm seat, transom door, a recessed windlass locker, and a cockpit refreshment center. On the downside, the side decks are very narrow. Among several V-drive engine options, twin 310hp gas engines cruise at 18 knots, and 330hp Cummins diesels cruise at 21–22 knots. Note the brief two-year production run.
