Bayliner Yachts
300-315 SB Cruiser
2008–12
With her sporty lines and affordable price, this versatile express (called the Bayliner 300 SB Cruiser in 2008; 315 SB Cruiser since 2009) appealed to entry-level boaters with an eye for value. The market for family cruisers in this size range is very competitive, and Bayliner designers strove to include a host of features into this boat to set her apart from the pack. Perhaps her most notable attribute is a surprisingly roomy interior, a feat made possible by carrying the beam well forward in the hull. While it’s not uncommon to see a 30-footer sleep six, its often at the expense of galley and seating space. Not so on the 315, especially when the dinette table is removed and stowed. Overall, the accommodations are comfortable if not spacious, which is more than can be said of many cruisers her size. Note that the mid-cabin berth has a fixed door rather than a curtain—definitely a plus. Topside, the helm is well arranged with tiered gauges and dash space for flush-mounting two small video displays. The overhead arch has a Bimini with boot, and standard camper canvass converts to cockpit into a sleeping area. Twin 260hp MerCruiser I/Os cruise at 25 knots (mid 30s top).
