3388 Motor Yacht
1996–2001
The Bayliner 3388 Motor Yacht was one of the most affordable twin-diesel family cruisers available during her production years. She’s basically an updated version of the popular Bayliner 3288 MY (1981–95) with a fresh profile and several hull refinements. The mid-cabin interior of the 3388 is similar to her predecessor with the galley down and amidships guest cabin located beneath the elevated dinette. A lower helm was standard, and there’s a separate stall shower in the head compartment. An accordion door provides privacy for the forward stateroom. If there’s a downside to the 3388 it has to be the unusual salon arrangement; the staircase leading down to the mid-cabin, just inside the salon door, causes the dinette to be moved so far forward that it’s hard to get between it and the lower helm chair. Consequently, the salon is far less spacious than one might expect in a 33-footer. Additional features include a low-profile sport arch, prop pockets, swim platform, and bow pulpit. The cabin and flybridge are a single mold which according to Bayliner reduced problems with window leakage. Standard 260hp gas inboards cruise the Bayliner 3388 at 15–16 knots (mid 20s top).
