Back Cove Yachts
26
2005–10
Building on the success of the original Back Cove 29 (2004–09), the Back Cove 26 combines the grace and style of a traditional Downeast cruiser long admired by boating enthusiasts everywhere. “Simplicity” is a word often used to describe the Back Cove 26—the layout is nothing unusual but her wide 9'4" beam results in considerably more cockpit and cabin space than one expects to find in a 26-foot boat. Port and starboard molded steps in the cockpit lead to the side and fore deck, and the large (and high) windshield has opening side panels for ventilation. Below, the forward dinette converts to sleep two comfortably. Aft of the dinette to starboard is an enclosed head with shower, and on the port side is a small galley with refrigerator, stove, and sink. The cabin, an appealing blend of cherry joinery and premium hardware, sports a handsome teak and holly sole. Wide side decks and cockpit jump seats are a plus, and a bow thruster was standard. The entire helm deck lifts for engine access. The Back Cove 26 was available in an open bass boat style or with a pipe-supported hard top for protection from the weather. Cruise at 22 knots (mid 20s top) with a single 260hp Yanmar diesel.
