Alden 50 Motor Yacht
Given Alden’s no-compromise approach to boat building, it comes as no surprise that the semi-custom 50 Motor Yacht is a finely crafted and meticulously finished vessel inside and out. Don’t let her traditional appearance fool you—she’s built on a fully cored vacuum-bagged hull utilizing the latest in high-tech materials. Prop pockets reduce the draft, and a shallow keel protects the running gear from damage in a grounding. While the Alden 50 is a semi-production yacht and buyers can alter the layout to suit their needs, the standard three-stateroom floorplan is very spacious and impressively executed. The galley is forward in the salon, opposite the lower helm, and both heads contain separate stall showers. (Note the cockpit access door in the aft cabin.) The Alden’s aft deck is designed to accommodate a dinghy, and the flybridge has plenty of guest seating aft of the helm. Additional features include walkaround side decks with raised bulwarks, handcrafted teak interior, sliding deck access door at the lower helm, fold-down radar mast, and underwater exhausts. Cat 600hp diesels cruise the Alden 50 at 16–18 knots (low 20s top).
