Viking 64 Open Bridge Convertible

Design:

  • After a successful run of the Viking 62 Convertible for eight years plus, the second generation of the 64 Convertible was officially launched at the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. As with all new Viking models, the company made extraordinary efforts in R&D to produce the most advanced mid-sized convertible in the industry.
  • Some notable advances include implementing the hull construction using fiberglass fabrics and vacuum infused coring with resin material and using as a calculated resin to fiberglass ratio to maximize strength and minimize weight.

Interior and Accommodations:

  • Aesthetically, the 64 Convertible is striking with a broken s-shaped shear that allows graceful movement from bow to stern.
  • Mimicking the popular flybridge layout of the larger convertibles like the 80, the 64 flybridge has a large and comfortable lounge area just forward on the helm, and the helm console has been adjusted for better access to the optional electronics packages from AME.
  • Comfort is also beyond apparent inside the 64 Convertible with its contemporary and open interior design surrounded by all the amenities one would expect from a Viking Convertible.
  • With the 64 Convertible, Viking has transitioned from the island galley layout on the 62 back to a traditional peninsula galley, but with a two-level countertop design flanked by barstools aft.
  • Down below, the 64 has very generous accommodations with a four stateroom, three head layout dominated by a large and private midship master to starboard.

Functionality and Fishability:

  • The 180 square foot cockpit provides plenty of space for action on the tournament trail
  •  can be optioned with items such as an Eskimo ice machine, an in-deck live well or refrigerated fish boxes for the port and starboard insulated fish boxes.
  • Anglers and guests can enjoy the views comfortably from the standard cockpit mezzanine that can be optioned with a “cool breeze” air conditioning system in the overhang.
  • The 64 convertibles also illustrates Viking’s priority for ease of maintenance in the cockpit, with quick disconnects for the oil transfer pumps, raw and fresh water washdown outlets, and access to critical mechanical items in the lazarette through an optional power actuated Seakeeper hatch just forward of the transom fish box.
  • From a performance perspective the Viking 64 Convertible can make it to the fishing grounds quickly with several power options from MAN, CAT, and MTU, such as the MTU Series 12V 2000 M96X (2002 MHP engines).

Viking 68 Open Bridge Convertible

  • Ever since its launch in 2017, the 68 Convertible quickly became a favorite of customers and has remained that way.
  • In 2023 alone, HMY has been honored to deliver hull numbers 41,43, and 47, and will deliver hull numbers 46 and 49 during late summer 2023.
  • HMY is pleased to be currently building hull number 50, an enclosed bridge version of the model that will arrive in the late summer,
  • Also, HMY recently submitted the specs to Viking for hull #55, which is expected to be displayed at the 2024 Palm Beach Boat International Show.
  • The reason for this model’s success is simple: it is a true bluewater fishing machine that has all the comforts and features of Viking’s larger models, all under 70 feet.

Accommodations:

  • The four stateroom four head accommodations on the 68 are second to none, as the model is the smallest in the portfolio to include a day head in the salon.
  • The 68 Convertible also has a private crew quarters stateroom and en-suite head below the rest of the accommodations with direct access to the engine room.
  • Having the day head in the salon as well as the crew quarters below provides additional comfort and privacy to the rest of the accommodations.
  • Owners will also find comfort in the almost full beam master stateroom that is located starboard and aft.
  • The galley is unique as well, with its full walk around the island galley and two-level countertop, flanked by three barstools for socializing, and all the modern conveniences one would expect in a Viking.

Exterior:

  • In the cockpit, the 176 square foot cockpit provides ample room for anglers and crew and can be equipped with many of the options that owners demand such as an Eskimo ice machine, a Seakeeper SK 26 that can be accessed through an option power actuated Seakeeper hatch, and a “Cool Breeze System,” to air condition the mezzanine area.
  • The flybridge is also a captain’s dream with a centerline helm, easy access to the optional electronics package from AME, and ample seating surrounding the helm with storage and optional freezer/refrigeration underneath.

  • During the Carpentry Stage, the Deckhouse is laid, critical interior wiring is installed, as well as the vessel’s wood kit.
  • While the powerful M96X 2002MHP engines wait to be first started, the hull will go through several extensive stages such as the rough carpentry, and all the interior stages.
