HMY’s Viking Yachts Update: FLIBS 2023 Edition
October is here, and the HMY New Viking Product Team once again will be in full force in the Viking Booth at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. This year, The Viking Yacht Company will present an impressive lineup of popular models including as of this time of writing, a 58 Open Bridge Convertible, a 64 Open Bridge Convertible, a 68 Open Bridge Convertible, an 80 Open Bridge Convertible, and the 90 Open Bridge Convertible. Both the 64 and 80 convertibles were a part of Viking’s famed Summer Demo program this past summer with immense success, and the 80 was the winner of the 2023 Jimmy Johnson Quest for the Ring Tournament out of Atlantic City. The 80 Convertible will also introduce Viking’s newest hull gelcoat color, Valhalla Grey. Below are descriptions of the models that will be displayed at FLIBS so you can decide which model is best for you!
Viking 90 Open Bridge Convertible - Open Bridge Debut
After months of assisting the build process, HMY cannot wait to help present Hull #5 of the 90 Convertible to the world. As the first 90 Open Bridge Convertible to be built, Hull #5 will set the standard for large sportfish convertibles. With its classic snow-white painted hull, its striking lines and curvature, along with its stunning custom tower from Palm Beach Towers, this battlewagon will be sure to turn heads at FLIBS. While there will be very little access to the flybridge during FLIBS, HMY will provide exclusive content showing the massive open flybridge to the world. Despite following the traditional Viking open bridge layout, its sheer size will impress any angler. Most importantly, the captain will find the 360-degree visibility to be excellent from all angles. The interior of Hull #5 will not disappoint as well, with its neutral color schemes of whites, greys, and taupes, in a six stateroom seven-and-a-half stateroom layout. The salon layout is unique on the open bridge version of the 90, with the day head being positioned just forward of the salon door, and a wet bar butler's pantry just forward of the dinette. The massive full-beam stateroom is incredible with a full walk-in closet and most notably a His and Her's head configuration with a large shower in its center. Hull #5 will display that the décor of Viking’s flagship model can not only be elegant but functional and will surpass any sportfish in its class.
Viking 80 Open Bridge Convertible - 2023 Summer Demo
The Viking 80 is a powerful example of Viking’s dominance in the semi-custom sportfish segment. HMY has sold numerous 80 Convertibles, including hulls 50 and 52 delivered this summer, and hull 51, again the Viking Demo from this summer, will be displayed at FLIBS. The 80 Convertible stands out from the rest of the competition in its class as being fast, nimble, yet luxurious with many notable features. For example, the Engine Room illustrates Viking’s strong engineering capabilities. Accessing through a watertight door that helps reduce the decibel levels in the cockpit, the Awlgrip white engine room houses some of the latest mechanical components, including a pair of optional MTU M96Ls rated at 2,635 HP each. From an accommodation standpoint, the 80 is impressive with a 21.5” beam that houses a day head and a 5 stateroom 5 head layout including a full beam master. The 80 Convertible has been chosen as the Demo flagship over the years because of its sheer size and ability to accommodate many anglers in various corners of the world, including on the open flybridge. With the helm’s raised teak platform to provide excellent visibility, and the console’s ability to accommodate up to four MFDs, the captain will have everything at his/her fingertips for a world-class operation. The helm, along with a large sun pad forward, and lots of optional refrigeration and freezer storage throughout, allows the 80 to handle any fishing operation in comfort. The 80’s ultimate disability remains true also with the optional enclosed bridge and optional skybridge options by only amplifying the model’s capabilities.
Viking 68 Open Bridge Convertible - Upcoming Winter Demo
The 68 is the ultimate mid-sized convertible. When arriving on board it is apparent how capable this yacht is when immersed in the 176 square foot cockpit which can contain many of the fishing and mechanical options buyers demand such as an optional Seakeeper 26, an optional Eskimo Ice Machine, and ample optional freezer and refrigeration space, while guests can take in the action from the well-appointed mezzanine seating area under optional air conditioning. The 68 Convertible is unique as it is the first model in the convertible series to include many accommodations that would be found on larger Vikings such as a salon day-head and private crew quarters with private engine room access, all providing a 4 stateroom 4 head layout. Nothing is left to the captain’s imagination on the flybridge, with three helm chairs from Release Marine or Bluewater overlooking the centerline helm area that can include a suite of electronics from Viking’s subsidiary company AME. The Viking 68 will arrive at the fishing grounds in a hurry via several engine package options including the optional V12 M96X 2002 MHP engines, with cruising speeds in the mid 30-knot range and at full speed in the low 40s. HMY is pleased to currently have a 68 open bridge convertible that is currently under construction. Hull #55 will be a snow-white version of the model equipped with a custom gap tuna tower from Palm Beach Towers and is expected to be displayed at the 2024 Palm Beach Boat Show.
Viking 64 Open Bridge Convertible - 2023 Summer Demo
The Viking 64 Convertible made its world debut at the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, as a powerful statement to Viking’s dominance in the mid-sized sportfish segment. The 64 Convertible also plays as a compliment to the company’s motto of, “Building a Better Boat Every day.” The quality, prestige, and fishability of the 64 convertible is immediately apparent when walking onboard the 180 sq. ft. cockpit. Opportunities to fish in the World’s finest fishing destinations abound with standard features such as a transom fish box with live well, port and starboard in-deck insulated fish boxes and an optional in-deck live well, as well as optional equipment such as a Seakeeper 26, an Eskimo Ice Machine, and air conditioning in the mezzanine. Owners and guests will feel extremely comfortable in the accommodations below, with a four stateroom 3 head layout, including a large master stateroom on the starboard side with a queen walkaround bed, two hanging closets, and a private in-suite head. The flybridge makes a statement for the next generation of Vikings with an all-new helm layout. The recessed black acrylic helm dash is raised up and closer to the captain with the optional Release Marine teak helm pod. Also new for Viking is the optional Ultraleather lounge up forward, with ample storage and refrigeration underneath. Walking into the Engine Room gives the impression that the 64 Convertible is ready to reach the Canyon quickly. With numerous engine packages from MAN, CAT, and MTU, the 64 Convertible will have the ability to cruise in the mid-30-knot range and full speed in the low 40-knot range.
Viking 58 Open Bridge Convertible
The 58 Convertible is an excellent model that can either be a crewed tournament blazer or perfect for an experienced owner-operator. With a beam of 17’9” yet with a draft of only five feet, this impressive vessel can be operated in almost any water. Anglers will rarely feel crowded in the 165-square-foot cockpit that houses several refrigerated in-deck fish boxes, a dedicated watertight hatch for the optional Seakeeper 9 Gyrostabilizer, and a transom live well with coaming hatches. Those observing can view all the action from the comfortable standard mezzanine seating area with optional Ultraleather cushions, which also houses the optional Eskimo ice chipper system, a refrigerated drink box, a dedicated bait freezer, and a centerline entrance into the engine room. Owners and guests will immediately realize the extensive volume of the interior when they enter the salon from the starboard entrance and have a direct view of the forepeak. The Galley is an impressive space that can handle almost any meal flanked by a bar with two bar stools. Everyone will feel extremely comfortable in the 58 Convertible’s three stateroom two head layout that includes a large master stateroom with a queen athwartship bed and private en-suite head, side-by-side bunks in the starboard stateroom, and either a queen walk-around or optional crossover layout in the VIP stateroom. The Flybridge is a very efficient space with a walk-around helm that is centered with an optional Teak Helm Pod from Release Marine, optional electronics packages from Viking’s subsidiary company Atlantic Marine Electronics, and ample seating on either side or forward. The Viking 58 will reach the fishing or cruising grounds in a hurry through various engine packages from MAN and MTU, helping this boat cruise in the mid-30s and at WOT in the low 40s depending on sea conditions. HMY is pleased to currently have a 58 Convertible under construction. 58-545 will be a snow-white hardtop version of the model, with the ever-popular cockpit molded-in staircase, and is expected to be displayed at the 2024 Palm Beach Boat Show.
In addition, Viking will have all five of the models from Valhalla Boatworks displayed, including the ever-popular V55. The V55 has taken the center console market by storm, with Valhalla Boatworks already selling over 50 hulls, and delivering almost 20 retail sold hulls in calendar year 2023.
