Charleston Waterfront Dining- Dock and Dine at its best

By Tia Mazziotta   October 6, 2022

Are you looking for great waterfront dining venues accessible to boaters in the Charleston area? Our team is bringing you a top-rated list of locations on the water where you can dock and dine with your very own boat. Let’s have a look!

Salty Dog Café

New waterfront views, same legendary experience. For over 35 years, the Salty Dog Café has provided Hilton Head Island with a legendary waterfront dining experience. The Legendary Café brings the same low country magic to Bohicket Marina Market. Their famous hospitality and breathtaking sunset views will not disappoint. It is a local favorite known for its cuisine and waterfront ambiance.

Saltwater Cowboy’s

Everyone knows the name Saltwater Cowboy’s on Shem Creek, and for good reason.  Once you slide into a chair on either of their two levels, and dive into some Trash Can Nachos you will understand why!  Try the Creek Whacker, or one of their signature cocktails, to highlight an afternoon you won't forget..., all while you enjoy the view of Shem Creek, and the silhouettes of shrimping boats lining the horizon of the harbor

.

Charleston Harbor Fish House

Fish House, located at the Charleston Harbor Marina is a stop you will not want to miss. Not only do they have a two-story dining experience, but they also have one of the best views of Charleston Harbor from their extravagant rooftop bar. The Fish House looks over the entire marina filled with boats, and the 79-Year-old USS Yorktown WW2 aircraft carrier. Most importantly the Fishhouse is located at the docks of Charleston Harbor Marina, which hosts the Carolina Billfish Classic (CBC) fishing tournament. The CBC is part of the South Carolina Governors Cup Billfish Series that has been around for 34 years.

Islander 71 Fish House & Deck Bar

Brand new and at the Isle of Palms Marina, the owners of Mex1 opened a spectacular three-level bar and restaurant with beautiful scenic views of the intercoastal.  Their She Crab Fries will wave every ounce of worry goodbye as you wash them down with the Nauti Mistress Margarita. The service here is nothing less than the best, and it all comes with a smile. As a bonus dock hands are typically onsite to assist with docking needs. Now that's service!

Tavern & Table

Tavern & Table is located on Shem Creek and offers an atmosphere and amazing service.  A top-notch wine menu makes this an easy choice for vino connoisseurs. It's tough to beat their outdoor festivities including  Oyster roasts & Oktoberfest hosted in the fall. Looking for a fantastic happy hour? Visit Tavern and Table on Fridays, 6-9 pm.

Island Cabana Bar

New to the Charleston waterfront scene is the Island Cabana Bar located at Seabreeze Marina. The Island Cabana Bar offers a variety of beers from locally owned Island Brands. Our local team highly recommends the Island Coastal Lager. You can also enjoy “adult” Capri sun drinks at this perfect evening spot that boasts a killer view of the Ravenel Bridge.  Oh, and did we mention it's dog friendly? Woof!

Vickery's Bar & Grill

Vickery’s Bar & Grill is a staff favorite! This venue offers true southern seafood with the best Oyster Soup in Charleston. Their lightly breaded fried flounder is a popular menu item, and is probably the best-fried flounder dish in the area. You'll know you’re in the right place when you find yourself listening to live music in an Adirondack chair, while watching boats pass by in the sunset.

Salty Mikes

Every local dining list isn't complete unless it has the perfect dive bar and restaurant on it, and Salty Mike’s is ours! Salty Mike’s is located at the docks of the City Marina. This old-school bar has sportfishing relics lining the walls, pool tables, and great pub fare. Conveniently located next door is the HMY Charleston office. Take a walk and get a glimpse of some of the newest HMY listings for sale.

Kings Tide

Make your way down the Wando and experience the only waterfront dining you can receive on Daniel Island. Everything from easy breezy docking to a 2-story nautical atmosphere with delicious seafood and a rooftop bar overlooking the Wando River. It’s a nice getaway to the other side of the harbor. Cruise on down and see what it is all about.

As always, local favorites are a must-see, and these restaurants and pubs are some of the best on the waterfront in the low country. Docking and Dining doesn't get any better than this. And for those of you that are looking for your own boat and tired of just dreaming about it, check out HMY's online inventory here.
