George Ivey started cruising and fishing the Florida waterways at a very young age. When George was only eight, his father gave him his first boat, a 10’ skiff with a ten-horsepower outboard motor. Growing up on the water gave him a wealth of experience both in and on the water, and he knew that boating would always be a significant part of his life. Over the years, he’s been involved in many aspects of the industry, from working at a boat manufacturer as a teenager, to family cruising, sport fishing, yacht restoration, and power boat racing.
George joined HMY in 2007 after spending several years working in the marine industry in South Florida. This followed a successful 16-year career in outside sales and sales management positions with S.C. Johnson Co. George decided to turn his passion for boating into a career, and he knew it was only natural for him to work in the sales and brokerage side of the business.
With his wide range of experience in new boat builds and sales, as well as brokerage sales and purchases, George is able to help clients with vessels of all kinds. He takes pride in his commitment to his clients, and understands that taking care of them, both before and after the sale, is key to building a successful, long-term broker-client relationship.
George is a licensed, bonded, and active member of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association and has been a member of various yacht clubs and boating organizations. After completing an in-depth program at North Florida Marine Institute, he earned certificates in several aspects of marine mechanics and acquired a captain’s license. George has visited and acquired training at engine manufacturers and many boat manufacturing plants, and recently traveled to Taiwan to visit the Horizon Yachts and Paragon manufacturing facilities.
