Built for Wellcraft in the late 1990s by Australian-based Riviera Marine, the 45 Excalibur struck a balance between luxury and performance in a big sport cruiser. Constructed on a solid fiberglass hull, her slender 11'8"" beam is similar to those of most European express yachts of her day. The Excalibur’s cockpit arrangement has elevated helm position, a full wet bar to port, and a U-shaped lounge/sun pad aft, perfect for entertaining aboard. Under the sun pad is a large storage well, and the entire aft section of the cockpit floor lifts electrically for access to the engines. Below deck, the salon of the Excalibur’s midcabin interior is dominated by a richly upholstered settee opposite the portside galley. Both sleeping areas are separated from the salon with privacy doors. Additional features include a separate stall shower in the head, cockpit boarding steps, anchor windlass, radar arch, transom door, forward sun pad, trim tabs, fresh/raw-water washdowns, and a concealed swim ladder. Big-block 415hp gas sterndrive engines cruise the Wellcraft 45 Excalibur at 28 knots and reach a top speed in the low 40s.

Overview

Slender 45-footer (built by Riviera Marine in Australia) is one part performance boat, one part family cruiser.

Features

Highlights include seakindly deep-V hull, well-appointed interior, excellent helm layout, roomy cockpit with U-shaped lounge seating. Privacy doors (rather than curtains) separate fore and aft sleeping areas from main salon. Engine access-under aft cockpit seat-is very good, but side decks are narrow.

Comments

Well-finished boat.

Performance

Big-block 415hp gas I/Os cruise at 28 knots and reach a top speed in the low 40s.
