Originally conceived as a sportfishing boat (a market that Trojan never successfully tapped), the 12 Meter Convertible was a little too glitzy for most anglers in spite of her big-boat accommodations and generous cockpit dimensions. Indeed, with over 14 feet of beam, the 12 Meter is a very roomy boat inside—a fact not lost on weekend cruisers seeking a mega-volume interior. Built on a fully cored DeltaConic hull with wide chine flats and moderate transom deadrise, the 12 Meter’s standard two-stateroom floorplan is arranged with the galley down and an island berth in the master stateroom. In 1990, Trojan updated the layout by adding a convertible dinette in the salon. On deck, the cockpit is set up with two in-deck fish boxes, fresh- and saltwater washdowns, a transom door, and molded tackle center. Note that the flybridge is rather small compared with other boats this size. Additional features include a bow pulpit, a full front windshield, and serviceable side decks. Standard 350hp gas engines cruise at 15 knots (24 knots top). Optional 375hp Cat diesels cruise at 22 knots (25–26 top), and 485hp Detroit 6-71s cruise at 26 knots (about 30 knots wide open).
