The Tiara 3900 Sovran and the Tiara 4000 Sovran were the first production boats to be designed around Volvos then-new IPS drive system. Among other advantages, pod drives require less engine room space than conventional inboards. Tiara designers were quick to take advantage of that extra space in the 3900 Sovran by creating an expansive single-stateroom interior with a cavernous step-down theater room area aft of the salon complete with a wall-mounted TV and facing leather settees that convert electrically to a double berth. The master stateroom is forward with curved sliding pocket privacy doors, 19"" TV, and pedestal island berth. The fully equipped galley is to port in the Sovrans beautifully appointed salon, and the large head compartment forward of the galley includes a separate stall shower. On deck, the Sovrans fiberglass hardtop shades much of the forward cockpit area where two A/C units provide year-round climate control. The windshield is integrated with the hardtop, and glass surrounds the bridge deck and helm area. The lower cockpit features a wraparound lounge with removable table. Volvo IPS 500 370hp diesels with joystick controls cruise at 2829 knots (low 30s top).
