42 Cockpit MY
Length w/ Pulpit:
The PT 42 Cockpit MY is essentially a PT 38 Sundeck with a cockpit extension. Imported from Taiwan, both were reasonably affordable family cruisers with modern lines and traditional all-teak interiors. They were constructed on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull with moderate beam and an extended keel below for stability. The overall quality of both is about average compared with other boats of their type imported during the late 1980s. Below, the interior is arranged in the conventional manner with a double berth aft and V-berths forward. The galley is down which makes for a rather spacious salon. Deck access doors are port and starboard in the salon, and a lower helm was standard. An offset queen berth in the aft stateroom helps preserve space, and the guest stateroom forward was available with V-berths or over/under single berths. The cockpit of the PT 42 makes boarding easy, and her full-width aft deck is large enough for several pieces of outdoor furniture. While a hardtop wasnt standard, most 42s on the used market will have one. With twin 225hp Lehman diesels, the PT 42 will cruise at 1415 knots. Larger 250hp Cummins diesels run about a knot faster.
