The Nordhavn 62 is a heavily built long-range cruising yacht capable of transoceanic voyages in safety and comfort. With the ship-like appearance of a small freighter, the Nordhavn is constructed on a ballasted full-displacement hull with watertight bulkheads, a long deep keel and a bulbous bow beneath the waterline. The entire superstructure of the Nordhavn is aft and the long foredeck is nearly flush. The 62s high bow with its reserve buoyancy is difficult to bury in a head sea. The belowdeck accommodations are practical and luxurious. Three staterooms are included in the standard layout, and the private crew quarters are reached through a hatch in the foredeck. The 62s towering pilothouse includes an enclosed head, settee and bunk beds. Additional features include commercial-grade doors and windows, keel cooler, dry stack exhaust, Portuguese bridge, and a fully equipped workshop. Note the asymmetrical widebody salon with starboard side deck. A single 340hp Lugger diesel will cruise the Nordhavn 62 at 9 knots with a range of 3,000 nautical miles. A popular yacht, about 35 were built.
