The Nordhavn 62 is a heavily built long-range cruising yacht capable of transoceanic voyages in safety and comfort. With the ship-like appearance of a small freighter, the Nordhavn is constructed on a ballasted full-displacement hull with watertight bulkheads, a long deep keel and a bulbous bow beneath the waterline. The entire superstructure of the Nordhavn is aft and the long foredeck is nearly flush. The 62’s high bow — with its reserve buoyancy — is difficult to bury in a head sea. The belowdeck accommodations are practical and luxurious. Three staterooms are included in the standard layout, and the private crew quarters are reached through a hatch in the foredeck. The 62’s towering pilothouse includes an enclosed head, settee and bunk beds. Additional features include commercial-grade doors and windows, keel cooler, dry stack exhaust, Portuguese bridge, and a fully equipped workshop. Note the asymmetrical widebody salon with starboard side deck. A single 340hp Lugger diesel will cruise the Nordhavn 62 at 9 knots with a range of 3,000 nautical miles. A popular yacht, about 35 were built.
