Introduced in 1996, the Bayliner 3488 Avanti Command Bridge is a spacious flybridge cruiser whose affordable price made her an appealing choice for entry-level boaters. Bayliners production-line manufacturing process allowed the company to deliver a lot of boat for the money, and this was particularly true of the 3488a design that undercut the competition by thousands of dollars. Built on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull, the Avantis midcabin interior is arranged with two staterooms, one forward and the other tucked below the elevated settee opposite the lower helm. Theres a separate stall shower in the head (a convenience not always found in a 34-footer), and the L-shaped galley in the salon provides plenty of counter space and storage. The Avantis cockpit is large enough for a couple of deck chairs, and the flybridge has the helm forward with wraparound guest seating. Additional features include a molded bow pulpit, radar arch, and a swim platform. Standard 310hp MerCruiser gas inboards (with V-drives) will cruise the 3488 Avanti at 18 knots and reach a top speed of close to 30 knots.
