The smallest Azimut model in recent years, the 40S is a luxurious twin-cabin sportcruiser whose sleek styling is very similar to Azimuts larger yachts. The big difference between the 40S and most other sport cruisers her size is the salon. Usually, the area under the hardtop is mostly a deck area with molded seats and a teak-laid floor. On the 40S, however, the saloncompletely bathed in natural light thanks to the side windowsis every bit as luxurious as a flybridge yacht with leather sofas and carpeted floors. With the galley down, the main deck area is used purely for entertaining. The L-shaped sofa in the salon converts into a bed and the adjustable hi-low table is fixed to the salon floor. The galley receives natural light through the windscreen, and a power sunroof is standard above the raised helm position. Below deck, the Azimut 40S features two ensuite cabins and two full heads in addition to the galley. The aft deck has a three-person bench seat along the transom and standard teak decks. Other notable features include four square hullside windows, a squarish bow, and hydraulic swim platform. Cummins QSB 480hp 5.9L diesels with joystick controls cruise at 28 knots (low to mid 30s top).
