With the addition of a small cockpit, the Wellcraft 43 San Remo was transformed into the 46 Cockpit Motor Yacht—the largest model ever built by Wellcraft Marine. Cockpit yachts have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their increased versatility; boarding is made much easier, and it’s also possible to do a little fishing or diving from the cockpit. (Equally important, the extra hull length made the 46 Cockpit MY a better looking yacht than the original San Remo model.) Below deck, the two-stateroom floorplan was available with a choice of salon configurations—a glitzy Eurostyle layout with facing S-shaped salon settees and lots of rounded corners, and a more contemporary arrangement with traditional salon seating. Either way, a breakfast bar separates the galley from the main salon, and both staterooms contain queen-size berths. Topside, the full-width aft deck will accommodate a couple of deck chairs, and the flybridge is arranged with guest seating aft of the helm. Standard gas engines cruise the Wellcraft 46 at 15–16 knots. Optional 425hp Cat diesels cruise at 18–19 knots.
