Obviously dated by todays sportboat standards, an affordable price, bold hull graphics, and spacious accommodations made the 2800 Monte Carlo one of the more popular models in the Wellcraft fleet a few years back. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and she rides on a conventional modified-V hull with a relatively wide 9-foot, 11-inch beam. Below, the Monte Carlo sleeps sixtwo in the forward V-berth, two in the midcabin, and two kids on the converted dinette. The absence of any cabin bulkheadsprivacy curtains separate the fore and aft sleeping areas from the main cabinresults in a wide-open interior with plenty of elbow space. Note that the aft cabin has near-standing headroom, which is very unusual in a midcabin boat this size. On deck, the single-level cockpit is arranged with a double-wide helm seat (with a fold-down aft jump seat) and removable bench seating at the transom. Additional features include a swim platform, good engine access, trim tabs, and a bow pulpit. A radar arch was a popular option. Twin 260hp MerCruiser sterndrives cruise the 2800 Monte Carlo at 2425 knots (mid 30s wide open).
