The Wellcraft 2800 Martinique (called the 2700 Martinique in 1994–96) is generic midcabin cruiser whose principal assets are a roomy interior and—during her production years—a very affordable price. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide 9'6"" beam, the Martinique sleeps six below—two in the angled forward berth, two in the midcabin, and two more in the convertible dinette. The accommodations are basic—the cabinets and carpeting are inexpensive, and the no-frills decor is unimpressive. Storage is adequate, however, and the galley has more counter space than most cruisers her size. On deck, visibility from the elevated helm is excellent. Cockpit seating includes a triple-wide helm seat and an aft-facing companion seat forward, and an L-shaped bench seat aft. A transom door, bow pulpit, walk-through windshield, and transom shower were standard. A radar arch was a popular option. Introduced in 1994 as the 2700 Martinique, she was completely restyled on the outside in 1997 when she became the 2800 Martinique (pictured here). A single 310hp sterndrive will cruise the 2700/2800 Martinique at 20 knots (30+ knots top), and twin 190hp engines will reach the mid-to-high 30s.
