The 72 Cockpit MY incorporates the megayacht luxuries found in all of Viking’s big motor yachts of the early 1990s with the added versatility of a cockpit for fishing, diving and entertaining. Built on a fully cored hull with a moderate 17-foot, 5-inch beam, her lush four-stateroom interior includes crew quarters forward, a huge main salon/dining area, and an absolutely extravagant master suite with a king-size bed, a built-in settee and a giant walk-in closet. A utility room is adjacent to the master stateroom, and a full-size tub is located in the aft head. In 1994, Viking rearranged the layout by enlarging the aft deck area (at the expense of the salon dimensions) and adding a dinette opposite the newly redesigned galley. Outside, the large cockpit includes tackle lockers, a transom door, swim platform with ladder, and a freshwater shower—everything required for fun on the water. Additional features include a spacious flybridge, a covered aft deck overlooking the cockpit, a huge standup engine room, and cushioned foredeck seating. A good performer by the standards of her day, the Viking 72 will cruise at 20 knots (low 20s top) with 870hp 12V71 GM diesels. Optional 1,050hp 12V92s cruise at 22 knots (mid 20s top).
