Replacing the 45 Convertible in the Viking lineup in 1994, the Viking 47 rides on a revised hull design with a deepened forefoot for improved head-sea handling and additional flare at the bow to reduce spray. The two-stateroom layout of the Viking 47 is unusual in that the salon, galley, and dinette are on a single levelrare in a modern convertible under 50 feet. The master stateroom is huge, and both head compartments have separate stall showers. Viking interiors have always been an elegant blend of grain-matched teak cabinets and designer fabrics, and the 47s accommodations are plush indeed. (Note the starboard-side, rather than centerline salon door.) Outside, the tournament-level cockpit comes with an in-deck fish box in addition to a molded tackle center, transom door, and direct access to the spacious, well-engineered engine room. Additional features include a huge flybridge with a superb helm console and seating for six, relatively wide side decks, and balsa coring in the hullsides. Standard 680hp MAN diesels cruise the Viking 47 at a fast 27 knots and reach 31 knots top, and optional 800hp MANs cruise at an honest 30 knots and deliver a top speed of 3334 knots.
