Smallest model in the Viking fleet when she was introduced in 2010, the 46 Convertible could hardly be defined as an “entry-level” boat. Bigger was nearly always better prior to the Great Recession, but by 2010 manufacturers were starting to focus on smaller, more affordable (and fuel-efficient) models to keep their order books filled. Built on a new Viking hull form with propeller pockets and 12 degrees of transom deadrise, the 46 is among a handful of boats her size to feature a mezzanine deck complete with bait freezer, seating, storage, and engine room access. The Viking’s beautifully crafted interior consists of a starboard-side galley with Corian counters, under-counter refrigerator/freezer drawers, and a small, triangular island counter with two stools. Below, a companionway laundry center is to port followed by the guest/day head and, further forward, the guest stateroom with over/under berths. The master stateroom is to starboard with a walkaround double berth and private head with an enormous forepeak shower. Additional features include a teak-and-holly galley sole, two large in-deck fish boxes, frameless salon windows, and a huge flybridge. MAN 1100hp diesels cruise at 33–34 knots.
