Introduced in 2004, the Viking 45 Open is a big, dual-purpose express designed to appeal as much to tournament anglers as family cruisers. Built on the same proven hull form as Viking’s 45 Convertible, the spacious deck layout of the 45 Open is notable for its state-of-the-art centerline helm. There are three Murray helm chairs on the helm deck, as well as an L-shaped lounge to port (with rod storage under) and a full wet bar. A sliding acrylic door leads to the spacious salon with its beautiful teak joinery, faux granite countertops, and posh leather seating. Available with one or two staterooms, both arrangements include a queen island berth forward and a large head with separate shower. Typical of all Viking yachts, the interior of the 45 Open is remarkable for its elegance and obvious attention to detail. The large 119-square-foot cockpit features insulated fish boxes, a rigging station, tackle storage, and direct access to a spacious, well-arranged engine room. Additional features include wide side decks, recessed electronics box, and a transom door. A good performer with 900hp MANs, the Viking 45 Open will cruise at a fast 30 knots and reach 33–34 knots top.
