The Tollycraft 57 Motor Yacht is a stretched and modified version of the earlier Tollycraft 53 MY (1988–94) with a much larger cockpit and increased fuel capacity. In many respects the two boats very similar, but the extra cockpit space of the 57—as well as the increased cruising range—were notable improvements from the original. She was built on an efficient semi-displacement hull with a solid fiberglass bottom and mega-wide 17-foot, 3-inch beam. The standard three-stateroom floorplan of the Tollycraft 57 is arranged with the dinette and galley forward, on the pilothouse level. The spacious, full-beam salon with entertainment center has a single portside wing door for access to the foredeck. On the lower level, the amidships master and both guest staterooms are forward of the engine room. Accessed from the large cockpit, the engine room has crouching headroom only but outboard access is excellent. A cockpit transom door and swim platform were standard. Note that in 1996, Tollycraft introduced the 57 Walkaround model with full side decks. Twin 735hp Detroits, 800hp Cats, or 820hp MANs cruise at 18–20 knots. Over thirty were built.
