Regarded by many as one of the finest West Coast cruising yachts ever produced, the Tollycraft 48 Motor Yacht (often called the 48 Cockpit MY) combines classic Tollycraft styling and quality in a yacht of exceptional elegance. Introduced in 1976, the popularity of this yacht was such that a total of 80 were built before she was retired from the fleet in 1986. Demand continued, however, and in 1991 production was resumed with another 25 produced before the last hull was delivered in 1998. Built on a solid fiberglass, semi-displacement hull with rounded chines and a long keel, the Tollycraft 48 is well known for her superb seakeeping attributes. Several two-stateroom, galley-down floorplan variations were offered over the years, all with a standard lower helm and port and starboard deck doors in the salon. Exterior features include a large cockpit with transom door, full walkaround side decks with protective bulwarks, radar mast, and swim platform. The aft cabin top is designed for dinghy storage. Early models with 210hp Cat diesels cruise efficiently at 10 knots. More recent models with 300hp Cummins (or 375hp Cats) cruise at 1518 knots. Used Tollycraft 48s are always in demand.
