One of Tollycrafts most popular boats, the 44 Cockpit MY is basically a Tollycraft 40 Sundeck with a cockpit extension. As it turned out, the 44 became more popular than her sibling thanks to the added versatility a cockpit brings to any yacht. Indeed, over 100 were built before Tollycraft incorporated a reverse-transom design in 1994 and reintroduced her as the 45 Cockpit MY. The two-stateroom, galley-down accommodations include a full-size dinette and a lower helm in addition to a roomy owners stateroom, a deck access door in the salon, and plenty of storage. (Note that the 45 has an angled double berth in the bow stateroom rather than V-berths.) Topside, the full-width aft deck has room for a dinghy, and wide side decks make foredeck access easy and safe. The cockpit of either model is large enough for light-tackle fishing and makes an excellent swim or dive platform. Twin 350hp gas engines were originally standard in the Tollycraft 44 (1819 knots cruise/27 knots top). Optional 375hp Cat diesels cruise around 23 knots (about 26 top), and the 400hp Detroit 6V53s cruise around 24 knots and reach a top speed in the mid to high 20s. Note that the fuel was increased in 1991.
