A versatile and well-regarded boat with an eight-year production run, the Tollycraft 40 Sundeck is a modern double-cabin cruising yacht with attractive styling, a first-rate interior layout, and high-quality construction. Like all Tollycrafts of her era, she rides on an efficient modified-V hull with a relatively wide beam and a shallow keel for increased directional stability. Originally offered with V-berths in the forward stateroom and a spacious aft stateroom, the floorplan was updated in mid-1992 when the forward stateroom and salon were enlarged at the expense of the aft stateroom dimensions. The interior is completely finished with well-crafted teak woodwork, and a lower helm station was a popular option in northern climates. In either floorplan, the galley and dinette are down, separated from the salon by a serving counter. Topside, the full-width aft deck is a capable entertainment platform, and bench seats flank the helm on the flybridge. Standard 350hp gas engines cruise the 40 Sundeck at 1718 knots (about 25 knots top). Optional 375hp Cat diesels cruise in the low 20s, and 400hp 6V53s cruise at 2425 knots.
