Flagship of the Tiara fleet when she was introduced in 1999, the 5000 Express is a distinctly American sportscruiser from a company whose reputation for quality is recognized throughout the industry. The 5000 may lack the sleek styling and high-performance persona of her European counterparts, but her cockpit is larger and the cabin more spacious than any sportboat import of her day. Built on a fully cored hull with prop pockets and a shallow keel, the posh interior of the 5000 Express is a blend of teak cabinets, solid-wood floors, vinyl overheads, and Ultraleather upholstery. Two floorplans were available: Plan A is a two-stateroom layout with a huge salon and the galley aft, while Plan B features three private staterooms with the galley forward in the salon. In the cockpit, electric tables rise for dining and lower for use as a cushion-covered sun pad. A 100-square-foot storage trunk is built into the transom, and the swim platform is designed to carry a dinghy or PWC. An extended fiberglass hardtop was a popular option. Twin 800hp Cat diesels cruise the 5000 Express at a respectable 2526 knots and deliver a top speed of just over 30 knots.
