The replacement boat for the popular 4200 Open (2003–09), the Tiara 4300 Open (called the Tiara 43 after 2012) combines the comforts of an express cruiser with the functionality of a top-tier sportfishing boat. Tiara has been building crossover boats like this for years, and the fish/cruise template hasn’t changed much since the original 3100 Open was launched in 1979. Key to the 4300’s exceptional versatility is an expansive cockpit with insulated fish boxes port and starboard, 50-gallon livewell, and all the fishing amenities an angler could want. For those more inclined to cruise, a fold-down transom seat or L-shape aft cockpit lounge are optional. Mezzanine seats overlook the cockpit, and on the raised helm deck the swivel seat on the L-lounge becomes a forward-facing companion seat. Below deck, there are two staterooms in the 4300 Open, a master forward with pedestal queen berth, and a guest cabin with upper and lower berths. The salon settee converts to a double berth, and a flip-up bunk brings the sleeping capacity to seven. Built on a balsa-cored hull with a well-flared bow, twin 715hp Cummins inboard diesels (or optional Cummins/Zeus 600 pod drives) cruise at 26–28 knots (low 30s top).

Overview

Dual-purpose express with fishboat cockpit, cruise-friendly accommodations met Tiara standards for engineering excellence, state-of-the-art construction.

Comments

Performance

Cruise at 25 knots with 550hp GM 6V92s; 26-27 knots with 660hp Cats.

Heavily constructed, conservatively styled, and elegantly appointed, the Tiara 4300 Open was one of the largest production sportboats available when she was introduced in 1991. Built on a beamy modified-V hull, the Open has enough built-in luxury to satisfy family cruisers and a cockpit large enough to meet the demands of hardcore anglers. The belowdeck accommodations are opulent (by the standards of her day, of course) with light ash joinery, leather upholstery, teak-and-holly sole, hydraulically operated dinette, and a spacious master stateroom with a walkaround island bed and built-in TV. Topside, the huge bi-level cockpit—reinforced for a mounted chair—comes with in-deck storage compartments, fresh and raw water washdowns, coaming bolsters, and a beefy transom door with gate. Additional features include a well-designed helm console with room for flush-mounting an array of electronics, wide side decks, excellent engine room access, and a foldaway bench seat at the transom. Note that in 1999 the cockpit seating was rearranged. Cruise at 24–25 knots with 550hp 6V92 diesels (30+ top). Later models with 660hp Cats cruise at 26–27 knots.
