Silverton was known for their ability to market affordably priced family yachts with maxi-volume interiors and innovative features. The 38 Sport Bridge followed in the footsteps of the company’s popular 330 Sport Bridge introduced back in 1999. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide beam, the spacious, full-beam interior of the 38 Sport Bridge is made possible by raising the side decks from bow to bridge on both sides of the boat. The result is a wide-open interior whose dimensions resemble those of a much larger boat. The salon is comfortable and brightly lit with windows all around and more headroom than most boats her size. The dinette is a step up from the salon floor to make room for the midcabin below, and the split head is separated with the toilet to starboard and the shower to port. Molded steps in the cockpit lead up to the 38’s large flybridge with its generous lounge seating, wet bar, and forward helm position. A hatch in the cockpit sole reveals a removable storage bin, and there’s additional storage in the transom for fenders and miscellaneous gear. The engine room is a tight fit. Cruise in the low 20s with 425hp gas engines; 24–25 knots with optional 355hp Cummins diesels.
