With no cockpit or aft deck area to speak of—and only the narrowest of side decks—the Silverton 37 Motor Yacht is a very distinctive boat compared with other aft-cabin motoryachts her size. She was introduced in 1988 at a time when European styling trends were having a big impact on American yacht design. With her maxi-volume interior and unorthodox layout, nearly everything about the Silverton 37 is unusual. To get aboard, one climbs a port or starboard exterior ladder to reach the bridge deck where an access hatch behind the helm leads below into the spacious full-beam interior. With two private staterooms with walkaround double berths, two heads with separate stall showers, convertible U-shaped dinette, and large galley with home-size refrigerator, these are spacious accommodations for a 37-foot boat. The forward stateroom is particularly large, and wraparound salon windows flood the interior with natural lighting. The bridge area is huge with lounge seating for 6–8 passengers. A double helm seat, aluminum radar arch, swim platform, and bow pulpit were standard. No lightweight, Crusader 350hp gas engines will cruise the Silverton 37 at 16–18 knots.
