The 322 Motor Yacht expanded on Silverton’s signature “SideWalk” design—twin ascending staircases replacing traditional side decks—first seen on the Silverton 372 Motor Yacht introduced two years earlier. This was an entirely new concept in small motoryacht design, one that produced much greater interior volume than many thought possible in a boat this size. Indeed, with two double staterooms, two heads, full-service galley, and enormous full-beam salon, the Silverton 322 may well be the most spacious 32-footer ever built. In addition to her vast interior, the 322 features a roomy flybridge as well as a functional aft deck with wet bar. Foredeck access from the flybridge is via molded steps and sturdy rails, and a curved staircase on the swim platform provides easy boarding. A bow pulpit and hardtop were standard. A huge sales success for Silverton, the downside of the 322 Motor Yacht is her ungainly top-heavy profile, a feature that can make for an uncomfortable ride in tall waves. (Definitely not designed for offshore use.) Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide 12'4"" beam, MerCruiser 350hp gas engines cruise the Silverton 322 at 15–16 knots (mid 20s top).
