The Sea Ray 540 Cockpit MY is a stylish pilothouse cruiser with a compelling blend of luxury-class accommodations and quality construction. Built on a modified-V hull with moderate beam and prop pockets, the 540’s three-stateroom interior is arranged with the master stateroom aft, under the pilothouse, and a large guest stateroom at the bow. Notably, the 540 was one of the few U.S. boats in her size range to offer an optional lower helm station—a common feature in European flybridge yachts. Note the absence of a fixed dinette; instead, a movable high/low table can be used in the salon. A washer/dryer is fitted in the master stateroom, and the engine room—accessed from the cockpit—is spacious and well arranged. Besides the cockpit steps, the bridge can be reached from an interior staircase—a luxury seldom found in a 54-footer. The flybridge came with a full hardtop, and the dinette aft of the helm electrically converts into a double sun pad. An extended swim platform and flybridge air conditioning were popular options. Standard 640hp Cat diesels cruise at 20 knots and reach a top speed of around 25 knots. Optional 800hp Cats will run a couple of knots faster.
