Sea Ray got it right with the 510 Sundancer, a world-class sportcruiser designed for cruising and entertaining in unsurpassed luxury. With distinctive hull windows and an enclosed salon, the 510 is a big styling step forward from earlier Sea Ray express yachts with their open main decks and fiberglass arches. The Sundancer’s oversized salon windows, big windshield, and large sunroof flood the main deck living area with tons of natural lighting. Sliding glass doors open to provide a nearly level entry into the cockpit. With the galley down, the below decks layout of the 510 features a full-beam amidships master stateroom with walk-in closet system and private head and shower. The forward VIP stateroom has an ensuite head as well, but some may find the centerline queen bed a little short for taller adults. The cockpit has a dining table with U-shaped seating to port, electric grill to starboard, and an engine room service hatch in the sole. Overhead, a power sunshade deploys from the hardtop to shade most of the cockpit. A hydraulic swim platform is standard. Cummins QSB8.3 600hp V-drive diesels cruise at 22–24 knots (high 20s top). Zeus-Cummins pod drives are optional.

Overview

World-class Sea Ray express with wide beam offers more cockpit, interior space than same-size European sportyachts of her era.

Features

Posh two-stateroom interior with cherry cabinets, Ultraleather seating includes two full heads, home-size galley with pull-out bar, salon entertainment center, central vacuum system, hardwood flooring. Retractible sun pad, hardtop, wraparound helm were standard.

Comments

Underwater exhausts reduce cockpit fumes.

Performance

Cat 660hp V-drive diesels cruise at 25 knots; 770hp Cats will cruise in the high 20s.

Introduced in 2000, the 510 Sundancer was impressive display of Sea Ray’s world-class design and engineering skills. Unlike her narrow-beam European counterparts (Sunseeker, Cranchi, Pershing, etc.) with their slender interiors, the Sundancer’s wide-beam hull results in a surprisingly spacious interior positively loaded with luxury features. The two-stateroom layout is dominated by a vast main salon with high-gloss cherry joinery, deep pile carpeting, and a posh Ultraleather sofa with electrically operated slide-out bed. To port is a home-size galley with Corian counters, hideaway mini-bar and copious storage. Forward, the large master stateroom features an island double berth, vanity with sink, and private ensuite head. (Both heads have separate stall showers.) The cockpit, with its wraparound helm console, retractable sun pad and stylish hardtop, offers seating for a small crowd. Additional features include a washer/dryer combo, central vacuum system, underwater exhausts, and anchor washdown. Twin 660hp V-drive Cats cruise the 510 Sundancer at 25 knots (about 30 knots top), and 770hp Cats cruise at 26–28 knots (low 30s top).
