The modern styling and spirited performance of the Sea Ray 500 Sedan (called 500 Sedan Bridge in 2005; 52 SB in 2006–09; 520 SB in 2010–13) compare well with her European counterparts from Azimut, Fairline, and Sealine. There are differences, of course—the Sea Ray lacks the standard lower helm found in most European yachts, and her flybridge—with its fiberglass hardtop and secure seating—is superior in just about every respect to any of the imports. Below decks, the three-stateroom interior of the 500 Sedan Bridge is arranged with an elevated dinette forward of the salon, a spacious galley area, and a large master stateroom at the bow. Both heads are fitted with separate stall showers, and a “utility room” under the galley sole houses an optional washer/dryer combination. The main salon, with its Ultraleather upholstery, entertainment center, and high-gloss cherry cabinets can seat a small crowd in luxury and comfort. A hatch in the cockpit sole leads to the engine room, and the swim platform is large enough to stow a tender. Additional standard features include a flybridge wet bar, salon entertainment center, and anchor washdown. Cummins 640hp diesels cruise in the mid 20s (30+ top).
