Designed for cruising and entertaining, the open floorplan and cutting-edge amenities of the Sea Ray 460 Sundancer contribute to this yacht’s reputation for comfort and luxury. Key to the Sundancer’s appeal are a roomy cockpit layout, a single-level salon/pilothouse with woodgrain joinery and port and starboard seating, and two large staterooms, each with ensuite bathrooms. A sliding glass door separates the cockpit and salon, and the galley location—aft in the salon—makes it handy to both areas. Huge windows and a massive sunroof admit tons of light throughout the salon. Below there are two comfortable staterooms: a full-beam master aft with walkaround queen bed and a forward guest cabin where an island berth swings apart to form twin beds—very clever. Both cabins feature hull windows for natural lighting. The foredeck sun pad is accessed on both sides via wide side decks, and the extended swim platform has a teak surface. Note that the aft cockpit settee slides out 16 inches over the swim platform to form an expansive seating area. Cummins 550hp V-drive inboards cruise in the 26–27 knots (30+ top).

Overview

World-class Sea Ray express with wide beam offers more cockpit, interior space than same-size European sportyachts of her era.

Features

Posh two-stateroom interior with cherry cabinets, Ultraleather seating includes two full heads, home-size galley with pull-out bar, salon entertainment center, central vacuum system, hardwood flooring. Retractible sun pad, hardtop, wraparound helm were standard.

Comments

Underwater exhausts reduce cockpit fumes.

Performance

Cat 660hp V-drive diesels cruise at 25 knots; 770hp Cats will cruise in the high 20s.

One of the largest domestic express yachts available when she was introduced in 1999, the Sea Ray 460 Sundancer is an impressive blend of American sportboat styling, luxury-class accommodations, and state-of-the-art construction. While the styling was perhaps more conservative than most European express yachts of her era, a wide beam and an expansive two-stateroom, two-head floorplan provide the 460 with cabin dimensions that European imports—with their relatively narrow beams—could only envy. Sea Ray interiors have always been among the best in the business, and the accommodations of the 460 are impressive in every respect. The mid-stateroom, complete with an enclosed head and standard washer/dryer, offers complete privacy behind sliding pocket doors. (Note that the settees in both the salon and mid-stateroom convert to double berth at the touch of a button.) In the cockpit, the facing aft settees convert electrically into a huge sun pad. A gas-assist hatch provides easy access to the engine room. An extended swim platform was standard. Twin 430hp V-drive Volvo (or Cummins) diesels cruise the 460 Sundancer in the low 20s (27–28 knots top).
