Creative styling, a spacious interior, and good performance made the 420 Aft Cabin a top-selling model in the Sea Ray fleet for several years. Aft-cabin yachts of this era often looked more like condos than boats, but the sleek profile of the 420 spokes volumes about Sea Rays ability to incorporate European styling influences in an American yacht. Built on a fully cored hull with prop pockets, the 420s two-stateroom cherry-trimmed interior has more usable space than one expects in a boat this size. Beginning with an expansive salon with an L-shaped sofa to starboard and raised dinette to port, both staterooms feature walkaround queen berths, and both heads include separate stall showers. A serving counter with twin bar stools forward in the salon overlooks the 420s large galley with separate under-counter refrigerator and freezer, convection oven, and tons of storage. Across from the galley, to port, is a separate utility room with washer/dryer combo, clothes hamper, and pantry. Molded boarding steps on the extended swim platform lead up the 420s large aft deck complete with full-service wet bar, table and bench seating. The engine room is a tight fit. Cummins 450hp diesels cruise in the mid 20s (2728 knots top).
