Sea Ray didnt get to where they are today by cutting corners. With her stylish fiberglass hardtop and innovative cockpit layout, the 38 Sundancer (called the 390 Sundancer in 201012) is a case in point. Introduced in 2006, she rides on a deep-V hull with cored hullsides, prop pockets, and a solid fiberglass bottom. While Sundancers are generally known for their cutting-edge stylingnote the vertical hull ports and seamless hardtop with aft sunshadethe lush accommodations of the 38 Sundancer are a match for the best European sport yachts her size. With 6'7"" of cabin headroom, a huge midcabin stateroom, and private bow stateroom with flat-screen TV, the interior has the look and feel of a small motoryacht. The Sundancers wide-open cockpit with centerline walk-through provides facing lounge seating for a small crowd. The swivel helm seat with flip-up bolster is a nice touch. A transom storage locker, power engine room hatch, foredeck sun pads, underwater exhausts, and anchor washdown system were standard. Standard MerCruiser 375hp V-drive gas inboards cruise at 20 knots (2830 top). Optional 380hp Cummins diesels with Zeus pod drives cruise at 2426 knots (low 30s top).
