It wasn’t so long ago that the idea of a production 40-plus-foot center console with four outboards would have seemed completely remote. No longer — today nearly a half-dozen manufacturers have one of these king-size behemoths in their model lineup or are close to it. The Scout 420 rides on a high-performance double-stepped hull with a flared bow and reverse transom. The layout features a roomy bow seating area with a teak table that rises from the deck, a lounge forward of the console, and a three-seat helm position with a console large enough for three big-screen displays. Aft-facing seats on the mezzanine deck overlook the cockpit. Below, the cabin includes twin berths forward with drop-down table, galley, and enclosed head with stall shower. Standard features include an 80-gallon livewell, transom door, portside boarding door, two in-deck fish boxes, powder-coated hardtop with curved glass enclosure, joystick system, windlass, generator, and air conditioning. Options include a gyrostabilizer, underwater LED lights, and a retractable awning. Big and luxurious, quad 350hp outboards will cruise the Scout 420 at 30+ knots (about 60 knots top).
