Marketed as a “fast trawler,” the Sabreline 36 is a well-crafted family cruiser with comfortable accommodations, a traditional profile, and a good turn of speed. While she may look like a trawler on the outside, the Sabreline rides on a high-performance, modified-V hull rather than a displacement or semi-displacement hull used in conventional trawlers. The result is a boat that gives a smooth transition from displacement planing speeds. The Sabreline’s interior is fairly conventional, using the typical salon/pilothouse design with staterooms fore and aft. A double berth was optional in the master stateroom, and the L-shaped dinette converts into a double berth for extra overnight guests. Topside, wide walkaround decks make getting around easy, and the flybridge is arranged with the helm forward and guest seating aft. Additional features include twin salon deck doors, large cabin windows, a roomy engine room, underwater exhausts, and a fold-down radar mast. Twin 250hp GM diesels cruise the Sabreline 36 at 16 knots (about 20 knots top), and later models with a pair of 315hp Cats cruise at 18 knots and reach 23–24 knots top.
