The Sabre 42 Flybridge is an updated version of the company’s earlier Saberline 42 Sedan produced from 2001 until 2009. The changes are subtle but significant—the redesigned deckhouse of the 42 Flybridge incorporates larger salon windows, and a roomier midlevel galley with double-drawer refrigeration replaces the U-shaped galley found in the original Saberline 42 Sedan. The most notable change, however, is the pod-drive propulsion of the 42 Flybridge that results in higher speeds using less fuel. Like her predecessor, the vacuum-bagged hull is balsa-cored on the sides and bottom with prop pockets to level the engines and reduce draft. The lush two-stateroom interior is an impressive display of impeccable cherry woodwork, top-shelf appliances, and designer fabrics. Stidd helm seats replace the Sedan’s foldaway bench seat, and a hatch in the salon sole provides access to the engine room. With her wide 14'4"" beam, the Sabre 42’s cockpit is as large and many convertibles her size. A transom door is standard in the cockpit along with an aft-facing lounge seat and removable dining table. Twin 425hp Cummins-Zeus pod drives cruise in the mid 20s (30+ knots top).
