Largest boat in the Pursuit fleet when she was introduced in 1989, the Pursuit 2800 Open (called the 2800 Express Fisherman in 1992) combines solid open-water performance with an efficient cockpit layout and comfortable cabin accommodations. The hull is balsa-cored from the waterline up, and a wide 10-foot beam results in a stable fishing platform capable of handling the added topside weight of a small tower. The cockpit of the 2800 Open has two side drains, a companion seat with insulated cooler, a big in-floor fish box, and lockable rod storage. Typical of all Pursuit products, the nonskid surfaces provide an excellent grip, and the deck hardware is top-quality stuff. Below, the interior is arranged with a convertible dinette/V-berth forward, a complete galley with pressure water, stove, and icebox, and a standup head with shower. Additional features include wide side decks, teak interior trim, a molded bow pulpit, and a stylish curved windshield. Interestingly, the 2800 was not offered with sterndrive power like so many other Pursuit models of her era. Twin 225hp Yamaha outboards top out at close to 40 knots.
