Introduced in the mid-1980s, the President 37 Sedan became popular with entry-level buyers thanks to her spacious interior and a very attractive price. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and a shallow keel provides a good deal of directional stability. Several single- and twin-stateroom floorplans were available during her production years, all with a single head compartment as well as a spacious salon. Nearly all of these boats were delivered with a full teak interior, although later models offered light oak cabinetry as an option. Large cabin windows provide plenty of natural lighting in the salon, and hatches in the salon sole can be removed for access to the engine room. (Note that the generator is installed beneath the cockpit sole—not the ideal location because of the risk of saltwater corrosion, but certainly quieter than if it were in the engine room.) Above, the flybridge is arranged with guest seating forward of the helm. A bow pulpit, swim platform, and transom door were standard and a lower helm station was optional. Twin 275hp Lehmans provide a 16-knot cruising speed (about 20 knots top), and optional 300hp Cummins diesels cruise at 21 knots (24–25 knots top).
