With her graceful profile, efficient deck layout, and solid construction, the 32 Tournament was one of the more appealing designs produced by Phoenix in the late 1990s. She’s built on a beamy modified-V hull with a solid fiberglass bottom and prop pockets to reduce the shaft angles. Like all Phoenix models, a one-piece inner liner was chemically bonded to the hull. There are sleeping accommodations for four adults below, and the head is fitted with a separate stall shower—a convenience usually absent in hardcore express boats this size. The backlighted rod locker next to the companionway is impressive, but the cabin headroom is very low. On deck, visibility from the centerline helm is excellent, and three hatches in the bridge deck provide access to the somewhat crowded engine compartment. (Note that the center hatch, along with the helm seat, lifts hydraulically from the front.) Cockpit fishing amenities include a molded bait prep station and tackle center, freezer, fish box, and transom door. Among several engine choices offered over the years, twin 350hp Cat (or 370hp Volvo) diesels cruise at 26 knots and reach a top speed of around 30 knots.
