First of the so-called “new generation” of Ocean yachts when she was introduced back in 1990, the muscular 58 Super Sport was built on a low-deadrise, modified-V hull design with cored hullsides, a shallow keel, and a well-flared bow. Below deck, her innovative three-stateroom, three-head layout is arranged with the huge full-width master stateroom located beneath the raised salon sole—a giant departure from conventional convertible floorplans of her day. Like all Ocean models, the 58 features a luxurious varnished teak interior with upscale furnishings and color-coordinated fabrics throughout. On deck, the 58’s tournament-sized cockpit features molded tackle centers, cockpit controls, teak covering boards, transom door, and direct access to the spacious engine room. The flybridge is extremely large with three helm chairs and U-shaped lounge seating forward of the helm console. (Note that a fully enclosed and air-conditioned flybridge was optional.) A good-running boat with plenty of eye appeal, standard 1,080hp 12V-92 diesels (or 1,100hp MANs) will cruise the Ocean 58 Super Sport at a fast 29–30 knots and reach a top speed in the low 30s.
