The Ocean 46 Sunliner is basically a 46 Super Sport (1983–85) with a full-width aft cabin replacing the Super Sport’s cockpit. Like all Ocean designs, the Sunliner rides on a low-deadrise, modified-V hull with a sweeping sheer and a well-flared bow. Her standard two-stateroom, galley-down interior includes a large U-shaped dinette opposite the galley and walkaround queen beds in both staterooms—a space-efficient floorplan that allows for a wide-open salon. (Note that an unusual three-stateroom layout with a smaller galley and an athwartships double in the bow stateroom came out in 1984.) A wet bar and L-shaped lounge were standard in the salon, and both heads have separate stall showers. (Note that salon headroom is very modest.) Topside, the aft deck is large enough for several pieces of outdoor furniture, and the flybridge is arranged convertible-style with the helm aft and bench seating forward. Additional features include a radar arch, central vacuum system, aft deck wet bar, washer/dryer, and garbage disposal. The 46 Sunliner will cruise in the low 20s with standard GM 6-71TI diesels and reach a top speed of 26–27 knots.
